There are two key replacement timepoints to assure your system is functioning properly:
As required by EPA standards, the container is transparent so that you can easily see when it is "full".
Note: The timing of this can vary greatly by practice which is why it's important to check periodically.
Bring a flashlight to check the container. Using a flashlight from the backside of the system and shining it forward will help determine the level of sedimentation.
Once the contents surpass the "Full Line" as indicated on the front label, the system becomes less effective at capturing metals that can escape into your community water supply. It's time to replace!
Even if the contents of the collection container are below the Full Line, EPA standards require replacement at intervals of no longer than 12 months to keep the systems working properly to protect your water supply.
The installation date should be recorded on the front label on the collection container.
If it has been more than 12 months, it's time to replace!
Timely changes keep your practice in compliance and reduce the risk of damage or contamination of your equipment systems.
